OUR PEOPLE

OUR TEAM OF DIRECTORS BELIEVE AQUATIC SPORTS AND ACTIVITIES SHOULD BE EASILY ACCESSIBLE TO ALL CANBERRAN’S

Matthew Turnbull
President of Water Polo ACT

Occupation: Australian Sport Commission, Sport Policy

“The ACT Aquatic Alliance is really important in safeguarding and promoting aquatic sports in the region. We can achieve a lot more when we work together, and at the end of the day, we all want the same things - suitable facilities that can accommodate all user groups”

Sally Hamilton
President of Triathlon ACT

Occupation: Program Manager, The Fair Work Ombudsman

“Triathlon uses both pool and lake resources here in the ACT. Lakewater quality and aquatic venues that can be used for Tri events are our top priority. I think the Alliance can bring all aquatic sports together and collaborate and be a strong voice to the government”

Ross Burden
President of Canberra Diving Academy

Occupation: Retired

“The Canberra Olympic Pool is the only facility that can accommodate the sport of diving in the ACT. Without it, we wouldn't have a sport. We need to start working closely with the government to come up with a solution before Canberra Olympic Pool reaches the end of its life.”

Bob Alford
President of Swimming ACT

Occupation: Senior Director, Worksafe ACT

“Swimming is a fundamental life skill for young Australians. In order for all children to have access to swimming we need to be more strategic in the aquatic infrastructure we develop within the region. The Alliance can assist the government in this space”
